Note: City Council returns from its holiday recess with one meeting next week. It’s on Tuesday, beginning at 9 a.m.

Issues of Interest: City Council’s agenda is light for its first meeting of the New Year, or new decade.

Council will resume its hearing on medical marijuana land use guidelines proposed by a task force. The task force is recommending medical marijuana collectives or cooperatives be kept more than 1,000 feet of schools, playgrounds, libraries, etc. and obtain permits before they’re allowed to operate. For our background on the extent of medical marijuana problems in the city check here. City Council first heard from the task force earlier this month, and was bombarded by community activists against collectives.
